A goal song has one job: make the moment feel big. It needs to hit hard in the first two seconds, sound good through a rink PA, and be clean enough to play in front of a stand full of families. Here are the songs that do that best, grouped by age, plus how to pick your team's own.
What makes a great goal song.
- An instant hook. The horn is still sounding when the song starts. If the good part is 40 seconds in, nobody hears it.
- Clean, not just "mostly clean". Use the clean edit, every time. A single word can undo a great season of goodwill.
- Chantable. The best arena songs give the stands something to clap or shout along to.
- Short. You'll fade it at the faceoff. Twenty to thirty seconds of the song is what matters.
Classic arena anthems.
These work at every age because everyone in the building already knows them.
For younger teams, U7 to U11.
Younger players love songs they know from school, movies and car rides. Keep it fun and bright.
For older teams, U13 to U18.
Teenagers want it to sound like a real arena. Bigger drops, harder edges, still clean.
How to pick your team's song.
- Let the players vote. Give them three or four clean options. They'll care more if they chose it.
- Test it on the PA. Some songs sound great in headphones and muddy in a rink. Play it once at practice.
- Have a backup. In a high-scoring game, the same song five times gets old. Rotate two or three.
- Check the edit. "Clean" on a streaming service isn't always marked. Listen to the whole first minute.
Soccer and baseball.
The same rules work on a field. Soccer goals suit the same big chants, like "We Will Rock You" and "Seven Nation Army". Baseball is more about walk-up songs and big hits, so shorter, punchier clips work best. Read our take on baseball walk-up songs. Sideline DJ starts with hockey, and other sports come next.
Let Sideline DJ handle it.
Sideline DJ picks goal songs from a library curated for youth sports, in the genres your team chooses, and only plays clean edits for youth divisions. If you don't like the song, Change song swaps it without a second horn or a second goal. See how music works in Sideline DJ.
